Basketball Tournament Rules

1. Rules: The official high school basketball rules published by the National Federation of High Schools.

2. Uniforms: All team members shall have the same-colored uniform, similar in style and color, with a legal number on the front and back of the uniform.

3. Playing Time: Each game will consist of 4 quarters, 8 minutes in length, with 3 minute overtime periods, if needed. Clock will not stop for whistles and foul shots until the last 2 minutes of the 2 nd and 4 th quarters.

Intermission: 1 minute after 1 st and 3 rd quarters, 3 minutes at half-time

Time-outs: Each team gets 4 timeouts per game, plus an additional for overtimes

4. Roster and Numbers: At least ten minutes before the scheduled starting time, each team will supply the scorer with a line-up sheet with the names and numbers of all players scheduled to play.

5. Sportsmanship: Good sportsmanship is expected of all participants in the Church sports program.

6. Technical and Flagrant Fouls: Any player receiving a technical or flagrant foul will be required to sit out three minutes for the first foul, and will be ejected from the game and suspended for the remainder of the tournament for the second foul.

7. Player Participation: Individuals may only participate on one team for the tournament. A player may appear on only one tournament roster.

8. Age: Players must be between 11 – 18 years old and currently be attending elementary, middle school or high school. If you are turning 19 during the tournament, you can continue playing until tournament is complete.

9. Team members: All players, members and non-members, who meet the age criteria above are eligible to play, regardless of their affiliation with school or club teams.

Players must reside within the boundaries of the stake which they represent.

10. Dunking: No dunking, hanging, or grabbing the rim shall be allowed before, during, or after the game. Violation of this rule will result in a technical foul.
